I’m so excited for fall. Not just because my birthday is this week, but because it’s my favorite season for fashion and beauty. I’ve been refreshing my routine lately with the change in weather coming, and here’s what I’m loving right now in makeup and skincare.
This duo from Onomie is skincare, highlighter and concealer. The A.C.E. Illuminating Eye Treatment comes in 2 shades sheer enough to be universally flattering in their subtle illumination, and it’s packed with damage-fighting Vitamin C. The Clinical Dark Circle Correcting Concealer comes in an impressive selection of shades. It’s thick but blends and melts into dark circles making them invisible. It doesn’t travel or settle into lines, and I know I am doing something good for the delicate skin around my eyes, not just covering up the evidence of too many late nights watching Jimmy Fallon.
I’m obsessed with the Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette. I don’t know what took me so long to pick it up. I love bronze shadow because of my hair, and the fact I can make them work for day or evening. Truth is though, there’s a gold, bronze or shimmery chocolate in here that will work for anyone’s skin tone and hair color. I’ve been having a blast discovering new combinations to blend into new looks. Oh, and they actually smell like cocoa!
I’m obsessed with moisturizers that don’t feel like a heavy mask and don’t break me out. I picked up REN Clean Skincare Instant Firming Beauty Shot at Beauty Brands recently. It’s is marketed as a firming serum but I am most interested in the high concentration of effective but light moisturizers. It absorbs instantly and is incredibly light. I don’t know if I look firmer, but I love how it feels on my sensitive skin.
You knew I wouldn’t have a beauty post without mentioning new Sephora favorites, right? I am so excited we’re getting one on the Country Club Plaza in October! I wear eyeliner every day, and I am particular about it. Over the last few years I’ve eschewed inkwell style liner for felt tip versions. They feel more natural and easier to apply. I had a few I really liked, but one day I called an audible and picked up Kat Von D’s Ink Liner. Now I get why this has a cult following. Of course Kat would have an amazing liner, she wears a cat eye every day! This stuff is truly magic. So easy to apply, opaque, and wears all day. I’d buy stock if I could. She better not discontinue it, EVER.
Another recent Sephora find, Tarte BB Tinted Treatment 12 Hour Primer. I was a little confused about what to do with this at first. For my skin I found it hard to blend on it’s own, but I started mixing a dab into my sunscreen and it thinned it out enough to blend better but still provide fantastic sheer, natural-looking coverage. I set it with mineral powder from Meow Cosmetics, and it really does stay looking fresh all day. I love that it has a high enough physical SPF to make it useful against daily sun exposure, but is gentle for my sensitive skin.
