Mardi Gras Style!

Since Mardi Gras is next week, I thought it might be fun to put together an outfit one might wear out if one was going to a party that night. Though I think those lucky people who aren’t confined by work schedules perhaps party all day long, even if they don’t live in New Orleans. NOLA happens to be one of my favorite U.S. cities, though I haven’t ever been there for Mardi Gras. I am not sure I could deal with Bourbon Street, but I’d really love to go to some of the parades someday.
This outfit includes a coat, which one might not need in Louisiana, but one would be smart to have in Kansas City. Though I admit, I am one of those weirdos who is always cold. And, I just like accessorizing. It appears a few of these things have sold though pretty well in the last few days, so if something is sold out, at least let it inspire your sartorial choices. I’ve done my best to choose things that can still be snatched up though.

 Other Mardi Gras goodies:
  • A King Cake is necessary for any Mardi Gras celebration, and you can order the traditional French style version here, to be delivered day before.
  • The Sazerac, a classic cocktail, was invented in New Orleans. It would be quite appropriate, and more stylish than a hurricane in a plastic cup.
  • I also created a Mardi Gras Treasury on Etsy featuring vintage Mardi Gras beads, hats, masks and more!

  1. Uptown! That’s the best place to watch the parades. Though I hear the Quarter is amazing on Fat Tuesday…. and that green furry coat? Perfect for MG!

  2. YAY! Thank you Ashe! I am relieved I have the approval of an actual New Orleans resident! I certainly don’t call myself an expert, so I am glad I did right by NOLA! 🙂
